Leadership
CFO & Finance Operator
Ryan Yurkanin has more than 20 years of financial leadership experience in companies ranging from startup to Fortune 500. He has a track record of raising institutional capital, closing complex transactions, and building the reporting and forecasting systems leaders use to run the business — including Series C and Series D financings for a PE-backed logistics software company (Sequoia, Brookfield), guiding that company through a successful sale, closing over $300 million in project financing, and preparing IPO-ready financial disclosures.
Since 2019, Ryan has led Malvern Financial as a fractional CFO and finance operator for small and mid-sized businesses — stepping into full CFO/VP Finance ownership through executive transitions, capital raises, exits, and day-to-day FP&A, cash, and investor reporting. His Malvern Financial work also includes SpaceXAI, where he helps train and apply AI models to finance workflows so teams move faster from raw data to decisions. Earlier roles include Vice President of Finance at Preferred Sands, a $300mm+ private equity–backed oil and gas services company; Senior Financial Analyst at ViaSat supporting a $500mm+ government systems division; and Lockheed Martin’s Financial Leadership Development Program, where he forecasted a $1B+ Department of Defense contract.
Ryan earned his BS in Business Administration (cum laude) and MBA in Finance from Pennsylvania State University. He and his wife co-founded The Sunday Kids, a 501(c)(3) that creates volunteer opportunities for young children across multiple states, and he serves as Treasurer of the Newport Elementary School Foundation. He lives in Newport Beach, CA with his wife and three children.
